Notes About This Website - Notas Sobre Este Sitio These pages were originally meant to be intuitive for the aspiring Spanish-English bilingual and foreign resident, with translations provided where necessary, and words similar to both languages not translated. However, as soon as we can figure it out and have the time to translate the duplicate pages, there will simply be an icon to select English or Spanish, and perhaps other languages later on.
The above slideshow was developed with a mind towards socially responsible investors, but buying real estate or doing business is a little tricky in postwar Nicaragua where government and the institutions around it can't decide if social integrity or self-interest is the go-word, and sellers appear to have little to no knowledge of the world economic crises nor the often relatively limited budget of CentAm adventurers. As such, all real estate info has been simplified into Classified format and buyers are encouraged to get informed before buying (i.e. commissions are nationally standardized at 5% and it is the seller who pays, but anticipate it just being tacked onto the selling price; & your paying too much for anything from a beer to property can potentially assist in mucking up a local economy); and then make direct contact with sellers while cutting out what are nearly always unscrupulous middlemen. Taking on little known Nicaraguan partners or associates is not recommended. If you would like a real estate primer from land-owning residents, or be directed to reliable sources, or more info on a property, or scrupulous transitional funds management, or an interpreter should you get here, feel free to contact info@hijuela.com or + (505) 8698-1439.
The site has morphed however, towards the more essential objectives found at its other-than-classified pages. Enjoy the adventure!
